Research direction

All three issues are in src/main/webapp/index.jsp; start by reading makeTimer, the deletePlayers error path, and the .successAlert click handler. Fix the countdown clearing and malformed paragraph markup, and remove the debug alert. Done when the countdown clears at zero, the error message renders as valid markup, and dismissing a success message shows no browser alert.

Description

Bug WebApp

Discovered during #957. All three are in src/main/webapp/index.jsp and behave the same with jQuery 1.7.1 and 3.7.1.

  • makeTimer: $("#…Message").html(); is the getter, not a setter, so the countdown message is never cleared when it reaches zero.
  • deletePlayers error path: builds "<p" + msg + "</p", missing both >, so the error message renders as broken markup.
  • .successAlert click handler: still has a debug alert("successAlert click"), so dismissing a success message pops a browser alert.
