Research direction

Start by tracing SharpLsp’s test discovery, output evaluation, VSTest/MTP execution, and debugging entry points to find where configuration is passed. Add regression coverage using the real F# and C# projects that default to Release, and run the affected tests; done means each path selects the Debug test assembly despite the project defaults.

Description

Windows users debugging tests in v0.29.0 see Release-build warnings. Platform DLLs may be prebuilt Release, but SharpLsp also omits Configuration from test discovery/build/run commands, allowing a project Release default to select an optimized user test assembly. Add shared [testing] configuration defaulting to Debug and apply it consistently to discovery, output evaluation, VSTest/MTP execution and debugging. Regression: real F# and C# projects declaring Release as their own default currently fail the assertion that discovery builds the Debug assembly.
