Research direction

Start by reading the existing Linux build and setup instructions, including update.sh, and check how the monitor TUI is launched through bin/strata. Document the steps to build from Git on Linux and explain how to start the TUI. Done means a Linux user can follow the instructions to build the project and launch the monitor.

Description

I have found this to be a great program.

I can see that a lot of effort has been put into the 2.0 beta. However you have NOT included Linux build instructions. I want to build from GIT. This allows me to easily try PRs and modify code when necessary. Here I added a HIPBLASLT_TUNING table for my 7900xt and made monitor changes along the lines suggested in #1114. Now you want me to use an Appimage. This makes it hard to test to see what tuning options work best on my system and make it hard to make changes and test PRs.

From my POV, using an Appimage is a BIG regression - I moved from LMStudio to llama.cpp for just this reason.

Please include instructions on how to build from git on Linux.

looks like update.sh still works, I have not found any info on how to access the TUI though.

after having the AI dig I find that doing:

/home/ed/builds/Strata/.venv/bin/pip install textual==8.2.8 rich==15.0.0
STRATA_PYTHON=/home/ed/builds/Strata/.venv/bin/python3 /home/ed/builds/Strata/bin/strata monitor --url http://127.0.0.1:8080

lets me run the tui

Thanks

FYI. on 1.45.3 these setting work well (Ryzen 7 7700 96G ddr5-6000 cl36, 7900xt 20G, pci4x4 nvme, B650 MB, on Archlinux Rocm 7.2.4 Kernel 7.3.0 gettng 1550-1800t/s prefill, 70-85t/s decode, with a 70K-110K context running an agentic workflow using letta-code)
