Research direction

Start with src/commands/sandbox/mcp.ts and compare its static usage strings with the dispatcher in src/lib/actions/sandbox/mcp-bridge.ts. Run src/commands/sandbox/mcp.test.ts and the CLI reproduction commands; done means both sandbox MCP help paths list update consistently and the focused tests pass.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

Investigation Summary
  • src/commands/sandbox/mcp.ts lists <add|list|status|restart|remove|migrate> in both static usage (line 13) and the missing-sandbox error (line 32).
  • The dispatcher handles update (src/lib/actions/sandbox/mcp-bridge.ts, case "update"), and its own usage error and nemoclaw <name> mcp --help list <add|update|list|status|restart|remove|migrate>. The global help and the docs also describe mcp update.
  • No open issue or PR covers this.
Description

nemoclaw sandbox mcp and nemoclaw sandbox mcp --help omit the supported update subcommand from the MCP action list, so the two help entry points disagree.

Reproduction Steps
  1. Build the CLI on main (6721c27): npm run build:cli.
  2. Run node bin/nemoclaw.js sandbox mcp. It prints Usage: nemoclaw <sandbox> mcp <add|list|status|restart|remove|migrate> [args...] and exits 2.
  3. Run node bin/nemoclaw.js sandbox mcp --help. The USAGE line also omits update.
  4. Run node bin/nemoclaw.js alpha mcp --help. It prints <add|update|list|status|restart|remove|migrate>.
Environment
  • OS: macOS 26.6 (Apple M5, arm64)
  • Node.js: v24.18.0
  • NemoClaw: main at 6721c27
  • Docker: not required
Debug Output

Not applicable. The output comes from static usage strings, before any runtime or gateway call.

Proposed fix

A signed, tested fix is on sandeepstele:fix/mcp-usage-update (commit 2e1ea5f):

  • It adds update to both strings in src/commands/sandbox/mcp.ts.
  • It adds two tests to src/commands/sandbox/mcp.test.ts, for the usage metadata and the missing-sandbox error. Both fail without the fix.

A fork PR cannot pass the required openshell-sdk-package CI job, so I'm offering the branch for a maintainer to adopt.
