Research direction

Reproduce the example in the linked playground and trace how CSS custom-property values are handled inside linear-gradient(). Compare the generated CSS with the expected output, then verify the fix against this reproduction and a regression case covering both fallback values.

Description

bug

following results in unexpected code:

textarea {
  background-image: linear-gradient(var(--primary-color, #ff5722), var(--primary-color, #ffff22));
}

results in:

textarea {
  background-image: linear-gradient(#ff5722), var(--primary-color, #ffff22);
}

but should:

textarea {
  background-image: linear-gradient(#ff5722, #ffff22);
}
