Research direction

The issue names no files, tests or entry points, only two hardware ideas: more general-purpose registers and three-operand scalar instructions. Start by finding where LuaJIT's x86 code generator and register allocator are defined, to see how much they assume about the register set. Done would be a maintainer-agreed scope for APX support, not a patch, so this is a design question first.

Description

3.0 enhancement

APX has some features that I'd imagine are nice for LuaJIT:

  • more GPRs
  • 3-operand (out, in, in) scalar instructions
