The log shows the capture target \\.\DISPLAY2 at origin x=-1920, y=0, with primary set to false, selected through output_name {d00f3300-199a-570e-96ca-138f7cce5f6b} and the Windows.Graphics.Capture method. Start from the display enumeration and the Windows.Graphics.Capture setup code for negative origins, then compare with the primary-display path. The log is truncated at an av1_amf CreateComponent error, so the full log is needed. Done means identifying why a secondary display at a negative origin yields black frames on AMD and reproducing that fix on a Windows AMD machine.

Black screen when streaming a secondary monitor on Windows 11 Insider Preview

Description

When streaming my secondary monitor using Sunshine and Moonlight, the video is completely black, but mouse input still works. The issue occurs only when the monitor is configured as a secondary display in Windows.

If I make the same monitor the primary display, streaming works normally. Switching it back to secondary causes the black screen to return.

This setup used to work correctly. I did not intentionally change any relevant settings, install new software on the tablet, or modify the Moonlight configuration. A Windows Insider Preview update might be related, but I cannot confirm that it caused the issue.

Steps to Reproduce

Connect two monitors to the PC.
Set the Samsung SMB2230H (1920×1080, approximately 60 Hz) as the secondary monitor.
Keep the Philips 27M2N5500 (2560×1440, 170 Hz) as the primary monitor.
Configure Sunshine to capture the Samsung monitor.
Connect to the PC using Moonlight on an Android tablet.
Observe that the video stream is black, although mouse input still works.
Set the Samsung monitor as the primary display in Windows Display Settings.
Start streaming again and observe that the video works normally.
Set the Samsung monitor back to secondary and observe that the issue returns.

Expected Behavior

Sunshine should capture and stream the selected monitor correctly regardless of whether it is configured as the primary or secondary display.

Actual Behavior

The stream displays a completely black screen when the Samsung monitor is configured as secondary. Mouse input continues to work.

Making the Samsung monitor the primary display resolves the issue. Switching it back to secondary reproduces the problem.

Troubleshooting

Reinstalled Sunshine and Moonlight multiple times.
Tried a stable Sunshine release instead of a newer release.
Checked the Sunshine logs and confirmed that the Samsung monitor is detected and selected for capture.
Verified that streaming works when the Samsung monitor is set as the primary display.

None of these steps resolved the issue when the Samsung monitor was secondary.

Additional Information

The Sunshine logs identify the Samsung monitor as \\.\DISPLAY2, with its origin at x=-1920, y=0, and indicate that it is not the primary display.

The selected capture output is {d00f3300-199a-570e-96ca-138f7cce5f6b}.

The issue appears to be related to capturing a secondary display, rather than a complete connection failure, because mouse input continues to work while the video is black.

I have attached the latest Sunshine log for further investigation.
