Research direction

Find section 6.5.4, “Developing the Deployment Script,” and inspect the deployment script around the two debconf-set-selections commands. Reproduce the script syntax error in the described Azure setup, then update the curriculum or script so the documented commands run successfully and verify the deployment step completes.

Description

6.5.4. Developing the Deployment Script
These lines in the provided script:

set environment variables that are necessary for MySQL installation

debconf-set-selections <<< "mysql-community-server mysql-community-server/root-pass password lc-password"
debconf-set-selections <<< "mysql-community-server mysql-community-server/re-root-pass password lc-password"

gave the following error:
/var/lib/waagent/run-command/download/1/script.sh: 19: /var/lib/waagent/run-command/download/1/script.sh: Syntax error: redirection unexpectedSo I changed the lines to the following:

echo "mysql-community-server mysql-community-server/root-pass password lc-password" | sudo debconf-set-selections
echo "mysql-community-server mysql-community-server/re-root-pass password lc-password" | sudo debconf-set-selections

to get past the error. Not sure if this is an "error" or if it was something unique about my Azure instance, but the VM was set up in the manner described in the preceding material so I expect others might get the same error.
