Research direction

Start by reviewing the existing beta, logbeta, and related special-function implementations in SpecialFunctions.jl, then check how their current argument handling and tests are organized. The issue proposes arbitrary argument counts and a multivariate logbeta formula; done means the supported behavior and edge cases, including the zero-argument case, are defined and covered.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

Is there interest in generalizing the beta function to any number of arguments? A basic implementation of logbeta would be

logbeta() = -Inf
logbeta(args...) = sum(loggamma.(args)) - loggamma(sum(args))
