make `_distinguishable_colors` public ?

Research direction
Start with src/colormaps.jl, especially the linked _distinguishable_colors method, and compare it with the existing distinguishable_colors API. Clarify whether the helper should be exported or renamed, how candidate::AbstractVector{<:Color} should be converted, and which default arguments are needed; done means an agreed public API is implemented.

Description
personally I am a user of the "private" _distinguishable_colors method because I can pass a specific subset of colors candidate::Vector{Lab{Float32}} to choose from.
What do you think about making it public, i.e. exporting it or just renaming it to distinguishable_colors ?
Ofc, to make it more user friendly a candidate::AbstractVector{<:Color} should be passed and a conversion should happen internally, along with some other default arguments similarly to distinguishable_colors.
