Research direction

Start by locating the existing logic that skips poorly compressible files based on extensions. Evaluate a file-magic library for signature detection, retain extension fallback when detection fails, and verify that representative file types are classified correctly.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

Currently only file extensions are taken into account which relies on an often unreliable piece of metadata which is the file name.

The more robust way would be to also check its signature using a file magic library and if it fails fall back to file extension.
