Research direction
Start by comparing Hamlib’s IC-7100 rig support with the behavior described for VFOA and VFOB during satellite frequency updates. Reproduce the reported issue with separate Hamlib configuration and debug logging, then trace the rig control paths that handle VFO selection and frequency updates. Done means the main and sub VFO retain the intended uplink and downlink frequencies without switching or alternating.

Description
I notice than Hamlib only has one entry for the ICOM IC-7100, while Ham Radio Deluxe has 2:
The main difference between them seems to be how they handle VFOA and VFOB. This comes into play particularly when trying to use satellite tracking software such as GPredict-Improved that bundles Hamlib for rig control.
The problem is that when tracking uplink and downlink frequencies on VFOA and VFOB:
- Main VFO shows VFOB instead of VFOA
- Attempting to manually switch is overwritten by the next update
- VFOA (displayed on the sub VFO) alternates between the original frequency and the one passed in by the update, every second
For example, attempting to use the ISS repeater on 437.800 down and 145.990 up:
- Main VFO shows 145.990 on VFOB
- Sub VFO shows 437.800 on VFOA (but only for a moment, the update reverts to the previous freq)
The same behaviour is observed in HRD SatTrack when using the IC-7100 connection preset, rather than the IC-7100-V2 preset, so I guess the HRD devs have hit this problem too. I'm not sure exactly when the V2 model was released - my radio is not one of the re-released versions (when ICOM starting making them again).
Because the software I'm using bundles Hamlib, I can't provide a debug log, but I could install and configure Hamlib separately to do this, if needed.
