Research direction

The payload names no files, tests or entry points, so there is no code location to start from. Read CONTRIBUTING.md and the linked discussion, then ask the maintainers for a scope decision on automatic cropping and perspective/barrel distortion correction before writing anything. Done would mean an agreed spec and an approach the maintainers accept, since the last comment was 362 days ago with no linked pull request.

Feature description

… with automatic cropping and automatic geometric distortions correction (perspective and barrel).

Why do you want this feature?

Obviously, for OCR, storage, forwarding, and PDF creation, "clean" photographs of documents without unnecessary elements at the edges of the frame and non-orthogonal text lines are best suited.
