Research direction

Start at the BrainBar window/sidebar entry point and the handlers for brainbar://dashboard and brainbar://settings/

; review how the current top tabs and General page are wired. Done means one window with Dashboard first in the sidebar, working deep links, and successful renders at 760, 960, and 1280 widths plus installed-app window capture.

Description

enhancement

Etan (1.5.39 review): Dashboard and Settings are two top tabs; he wants one window with a sidebar where Dashboard is an item (or the empty General page becomes the Dashboard). General currently only says "Monitor memory activity on Dashboard…".

Acceptance:

  • One window, no top Dashboard/Settings tabs; sidebar: Dashboard (first) · Jobs · Backups · Advanced (General removed or merged into Dashboard).
  • Deep links keep working (brainbar://dashboard, brainbar://settings/<section>).
  • Related backlog (post-convergence, see brainlayer vNext plan D5): BrainBar as a small status item that opens this window as a real, non-dismissing window.
  • Renders at 760/960/1280 + installed-app window capture.

Filed by brainlayerClaude-90982d09 (Claude Opus 5.5) from Etan's hands-on review of the installed BrainBar 1.5.39 (2026-09-25). Implementation: cloud session; one local review per PR. Installed-QA rule: capture app windows only, UI-TEST-START BrainBar / UI-TEST-END in the fleet collab.
