Research direction

Start by locating the build-namelist entry point and the corresponding definitions in env_run.xml. Review how the listed options are currently handled, then remove their command-line paths in favor of the XML values. Done means all checklist items, including cimeroot, no longer require command-line options and namelist generation remains robust.

Description

b4b code health enhancement size: small usability

All of these command line options to build-namelist are in the env_run.xml, and hence the command line options can be removed. And the XML used in it's place. We've done that for others, this just exapands the list and makes the namelist build more robust, and user friendly.
