What problem are you trying to solve?

There's no way to suspend a conversation that is actively running. If the
agent is partway through a multi-step task and I need to close my laptop,
step away, or switch to something else, my only option is to interrupt the
run — which ends the current turn, and picking up later means starting the
task over rather than continuing it.

This makes long-running tasks impractical: the longer the task, the more
progress I lose if I have to stop.

What would improve it?

The ability to pause an in-flight conversation - mid-response, or partwaythrough a multi-step task - and resume it later from exactly where itstopped, with the agent's progress intact.
To be clear: I know previous sessions can already be resumed from the chatlist. This is a different need - suspending a run that is currently inprogress, not re-opening a finished one
Even a simple "paused" state that survives an app restart and can be
continued from the same point would solve it.

What do you do today?

I either let the task run to completion before stepping away, or interruptit and re-describe the task when I come back - re-explaining context and
redoing work that was already finished.
