Research direction

Start by reading PostgreSQL 18's extension-directory behavior and the linked CNPG image-volume documentation. Then inspect the repository's release and build automation; the issue names no specific files or entry points. Done means an extension container image is built on release, with the proposed CI push path clarified.

Description

distribution

PostgreSQL 18 recently gained a way to load extensions from different directories. The CNPG Kubernetes operator pioneers using these images. It would be great to build this container image on release.

Some documentation can be found at
https://cloudnative-pg.io/documentation/1.28/imagevolume_extensions/

I might be able to contribute CI integration to automatically push such an image.
