Research direction

Start by reviewing the existing transcription interface and the five environments listed in this issue: right-to-left text, columnar texts, scrolls and long images, epitaphs and inscriptions, and poetry. The issue names no files or tests, so first identify the relevant interface entry points and define what distinct support for each environment would mean before implementation.
