Research direction

Start by reviewing PR #134 and determine which follow-up tasks belong in this repository versus the PSS repository. The issue names startup initialization for use_nlp, the settings.pss_settings.hostname() API, and the types argument in pss_settings.item(types=[]); clarify the desired design and scope before implementation.

Description

This is a follow-up issue for PR #134. Some of these changes may be best suited for the PSS repository.

Tasks for a future pull request

  • Add registered startup script for initializing use_nlp (not specific to PSS)
  • Shorter syntax for settings.pss_settings.hostname(), perhaps pss.hostname() or settings.hostname()
  • Brainstorm a different name for types in pss_settings.item(types=[])
