Research direction

This is a maintainer planning note, not a task. It lists the v1 scope (README setup for Frontend, Backend and LandingPage, onboarding, the sponsorship match, chat, and the 'not in this release' states for Collaborations, Contracts and Analytics) and the items for main (code of conduct, contributing guide, security policy, CI check). Newcomers should wait for the good first issue label the maintainer describes and not start work from this note.

Status

Inpact is in a v1 wrap-up. I am sorting the tracker before adding features.

What I will do

  • Close stale and duplicate issues and pull requests, with a short note on each one.
  • Hold new contributions until the tracker is clean. After that, look for the good first issue label.
  • Keep each change in its own small pull request.

v1 scope

A new contributor should be able to:

  1. Clone the repo, copy the env examples, and start Frontend, Backend, and LandingPage from the README.
  2. Sign up, pick a role, finish onboarding, and land on a dashboard.
  3. See a sponsorship match that comes from the API.
  4. Send a chat message.
  5. Open Collaborations, Contracts, and Analytics and see a clear "not in this release" state where the feature is unfinished.

main should include a code of conduct, contributing guide, security policy, the existing GPL-3.0 license, and a basic CI check.

Not in v1

AI contract generation, ROI analytics, deal pricing, negotiation assistant, vector embeddings, WebRTC, a user feed, and Turborepo. Those stay labeled for later.

If you have an open pull request that is still relevant, you do not need to do anything yet. I will comment on it as I review.

Getting set up

  • No Dockerfile or Docker Compose file
  • Has a pull request template
  • No contributing guide

First steps

  1. Read the whole issue, then the project's contributing guide.
  2. Comment on the issue to say you are picking it up — it saves two people doing the same work.
  3. Fork the repository and make your change on a branch.
  4. Open a pull request that references the issue number.
