The issue requests default placeholders similar to major mask plugins, where characters are replaced one by one. To implement, examine the existing mask logic in source files like src/factory.js or src/mask.js to understand how masks are applied and where placeholder insertion could be added. Check if any comments or linked PRs exist for prior attempts; currently there are none. The maintainer may need to clarify if this should be configurable or always present.
