Run test/phpmailerLangTest.php with PHPUnit to get a list of missing and stray translations. Then edit the corresponding language files (e.g., language/phpmailer.lang xx.php) to add the missing strings. Ensure no stray extra translations are left. The issue is old but still open, so contributions are welcome.
