Better error handling

Currently, person.rb returns false if something went wrong with the Hall of Fame submission, which then triggers the persons_controller to show an error alert.

The issue is that the error message is always the same one, no matter where in the whole process the problem occurred. I do not have enough Rails experience to fix this, as I don't know how to return an error message from the model and use it in the controller. Any ideas?
