My environment:

  • Debian 12 KDE Wayland
  • urh version: 2.9.8.
  • SDR: SDRPlay RSPdx with up-to-date API sdrplay_api_api_version=3.150000
Is your feature request related to a problem?

As urh currently does not support the SDRPlay v3 API (see #783), SoapySDR would be an alternative for interfacing with the device using an (almost) hardware-agnostic API.

Start by examining existing SDR backend implementations in urh, e.g., the HackRF or SDRPlay backends, to understand the interface. Then explore the SoapySDR library (https://github.com/pothosware/SoapySDR) and its Python bindings to design a new backend module. Pay attention to device enumeration, stream configuration, and sample handling. No linked PRs or comments provide further guidance.
