I have noticed that DefinitelyTyped has definitions for source-map-support ; as far as I know their goal is to have them directly in the upstream package, but I haven't found where they asked for inclusion.

I have seen the need for those while trying to package ts-node for Debian.

Investigate the existing DefinitelyTyped definitions for source map support (DefinitelyTyped/DefinitelyTyped). The goal is to include type definitions directly in this package. Review the API surface of source map support to ensure all public methods and classes are typed. The issue has not been acted upon, so a PR would be welcome to add a types/index.d.ts file and reference it in package.json.
