Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Right now the categories/tags page just lists all categories/tags as a plain list (examples), with one category/tag on each line. This leaves an annoying amount of whitespace on the categories/tags page. A better style would be preferrable.

Describe the solution you'd like

A more condensed style would be nice. Maybe something like this and this?

Research direction
Examine the current Hugo template files for categories and tags, likely located in layouts/categories/list.html and layouts/tags/list.html. Look at the example links (https://hugo theme even.netlify.app/categories/ and /tags/) for a more condensed card style layout. Implement a CSS grid or flexbox approach to display tags/categories in a compact, multi column format.
