I would like to see the return of flags or command line arguments that allow users to Disable Split View entirely.

Who's implementing?

The problem

The recent updates to Chromium (v144 I think?) have forced the Split View to be enabled, specifically within the context menu. This adds unnecessary visual noise and leads to accidental clicks. Previously, flags allowed users to toggle these UI elements, but they have been removed in upstream Chromium.

While there is a toggle to disable the drag-and-drop feature in chrome://settings/appearance, there is currently no setting to disable it from the context menu.

Possible solutions

Requesting a patch to re-introduce flags/CLI arguments to completely disable Split View functionality.

Research direction
Examine the Chromium source code for the Split View feature, particularly files related to context menu handling and AppMenu. Identify where the previous flags were defined and removed in upstream. Investigate how ungoogled chromium's patch system works to add custom flags. Check the issue comments for any pointers. A typical approach would be to add a new command line switch in chrome/browser/flag descriptions.cc and related files, and then guard the Split View UI elements with that flag.
