Start by opening the failing /doesnt/exist URL and inspecting the generated HTML for relative paths. Then inspect 404.md and the site's Laika configuration to determine whether the path handling is local or requires an upstream Laika fix. Done means the 404 page renders correctly when visited from arbitrary paths.

The problem is that Laika generates the HTML for 404.md using relative paths, but the page may be rendered from any path. This may be something that we need to fix upstream in Laika.
