Research direction

Locate where the default for dfs.datanode.network.counts.cache.max.size is configured and review the referenced context about its effects. Determine a more sensible value, update the setting, and add the chosen default to the operator documentation.

Context:

Until this hits an official release, we might want to lower the default value for this setting to something more sensible on our end, in order to avoid the effect stated in the chat.

If we do this wo should also add it to our docs somewhere.
