Current Behavior

As I understand it - The $schema keyword is used to point to a JSON Schema that describes the shape of a valid JSON schema itself.

The most recent version of the JSON Schema spec is 2020-12 https://json-schema.org/specification.html

If we try use a schema with

  "$schema": "https://json-schema.org/draft/2020-12/schema",

RSJF will show a validation error:

no schema with key or ref "https://json-schema.org/draft/2020-12/schema"

Expected Behavior

The most recent version of JSON schema should be supported.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Navigate to: https://rjsf-team.github.io/react-jsonschema-form/
  2. Paste "$schema": "https://json-schema.org/draft/2020-12/schema", into the top level of the schema
  3. Submit the form
  4. Observe the validation error

Research direction
Examine the source code to find where supported JSON Schema drafts are defined (likely in a constants file or validation setup). Check if the underlying validator (ajv) supports the 2020-12 draft; if not, upgrade the validator. Add the 2020-12 schema URL to the list. Run existing tests and add a simple test for the new draft. Update documentation if necessary. See issue comments for any additional hints.
