Brief Description of Issue

Currently, the Normalization and Standardization notebooks are not showing figures properly.

This is a known issue that @catherinedevlin raised while putting in PR #320. I merged this PR regardless, just so that the notebook could get in first.

Research direction
Investigate the Normalization notebook at examples/notebooks/normalize.ipynb. The figures are missing on the documentation page. Likely need to re run the notebook cells to generate the output figures, then commit the updated notebook. Check if any dependencies or imports are missing that cause the figures not to render.
