Research direction

Reproduce the issue by launching Poolside Desktop on an Apple Silicon Mac and watching WindowServer in Activity Monitor while the app is idle, hidden, minimized, and quit. Compare the GPU usage across those states; done means Poolside no longer leaves sustained high WindowServer GPU usage while idle or minimized.

Description

Feedback

Poolside Desktop causes sustained high GPU usage in WindowServer on macOS.

Reproduction:

  1. Launch Poolside Desktop.
  2. Observe WindowServer in Activity Monitor: ~40% GPU.
  3. Hide/minimize Poolside: GPU usage remains high.
  4. Quit Poolside completely: WindowServer GPU usage immediately drops.
  5. Relaunch Poolside: high WindowServer GPU usage returns.

This happens even when Poolside is idle.

Environment: Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 26.6.2.
