This is an issue with CoreBluetooth/blued. I was able to reproduce using an Objective-C based app that uses CoreBluetooth with an iOS and Android central connected. Read responses for the 2nd connected central never go through.

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for Apple to fix this issue in a later OS X release.

Research direction
The issue is a known CoreBluetooth bug in OS X 10.10. No active development is possible until Apple releases a fix. Contributors can follow up on Apple's bug tracker or test with newer OS X versions. The original issue reference is https://github.com/sandeepmistry/noble/issues/232.
