Description

It would be nice to able to add a date to gifts.

  1. For Gift already offered, this would be the date received.
  2. For Gift idea, it could be the gift due date, or the date a reminder is supposed to go out?
  3. If #122 (Gifts received) is implemented, that would be date received.

The date field in each of these modes would be stored in the same column, they would just have different meanings given the gift context. Item 2 might need some more thought. Item 1 and item 3 are pretty straight forward.

I came here for item 1, brainstormed and threw out the idea for items 2 & 3.

Research direction
Review the existing Gift model and migration files in the Monica repository. The goal is to add a 'date' column to the gifts table. Check the current gift creation/editing views and forms. Consider the three use cases: for received gifts, date received; for gift ideas, due date or reminder date. Item 2 requires further discussion with maintainers. Ensure the date field is optional and properly formatted. Reference the issue comments and possibly the related issue #122 about gifts received.
