Intended Agent Scenarios

Hi,

I am Bobur, ex-Microsoft and MVP for AI Platform.

We’d love to see native support for Neon Serverless Postgres integrated into Azure MCP!

Our team has tested the integration using our own Neon-compatible MCP server: 🔗 https://github.com/neondatabase-labs/mcp-server-neon

It works well together with Azure MCP inside GitHub Copilot and VS Code environments. Adding official support for Neon would provide developers with a modern, serverless Postgres experience while retaining the rich dev workflows Azure MCP enables.

Why this matters:

  • Neon is Postgres-compatible and offers branching, autoscaling, and a serverless architecture, which fits perfectly into cloud-native and AI developer workflows.
  • Neon MCP Server already offers many tools to create and manage databases.
  • Many developers are already using Neon MCP Server with GitHub Copilot and Azure tools. Integrating it natively into Azure MCP would simplify onboarding and increase adoption.

Proposed Solution:

  • Add a Neon connector or config preset to MCP's supported databases.
  • Provide CLI or template support for connecting to mcp-server-neon as a backend for developers using Neon in GitHub Codespaces or VS Code.

Happy to provide further implementation details or support a PR if this is considered!

Thanks for the great work on Azure MCP 🚀
