Research direction

Start by reading the linked NVIDIA article on non-power-of-two mipmap creation, then locate the existing box filtering used for 3D volume mip-generation and the non-WIC 2D path. Done means both filtering cases support non-power-of-two height and width.

Description

proposal

The box filtering being used for 3D volume mip-generation as well as the non-WIC 2D case require power of 2 height & width. It is possible to generalize these into a polyphase filter that works with non-power-of-2 filtering.

This is detailed in this NVIDIA article
