Research direction
Start by inspecting the package metadata and the existing module entry, then check the files in dist to understand which package targets are currently exposed. Define an export map that supports ESM imports without relying on the module property, and resolve whether the minified dist file should remain exposed.

Description
Hi @lukeed! It would be great to have an export map for this project to be able to import it as ESM without depending on the module property!
Let me know if you want a PR! The one thing I'm not sure about is how we'd want to expose the minified file in dist? Or if that file is even needed?
