The configuration file is pretty extensive and versatile. It just so happens that it would be nice to add Blackout Dates to the configuration options.

Proposal

Let the user specify zero or more blackout dates. If the current date matches any of the blackout dates, Go-Carousel would behave as if there was a -lock active and would not change the wallpaper to what is requested. Or better yet, change it to the specified default wallpaper in case there is a carry-over from a good date to a blackout date.

Blackout dates should be fully specified:

  • Date must be specified as Month and Day
  • Date must assume the current year
  • Date must be in standard GO formats: stdLongMonth, stdMonth and stdDay, stdZeroDay.

For example January-21, Jan-03 and thus excluding the number-based month formats to avoid ambiguity.
