Description
Currently, when searching for keywords like "App Store" "Play Store" or other Android- or Windows-related terms in the Linux Mint Software Manager, no relevant results are shown. Users who are new to Linux often expect to find Android-related applications or package managers when searching with these terms. When I, as an experienced user, type in
Expected Behavior:
Searching in the cinnamon menu for terms such as "App Store", "Software", "Store" should suggest Software Manager.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open the Menu.
- Search for keywords such as "App Store" or "Software (if your locale is not english)"
- Try to find Software Manager.
Proposed Solution:
Modify the .desktop file of the Software Manager in /usr/share/applications to include additional Keywords entries.
Example Update:
Keywords=App Store;Appstore;Android Package Manager;Google Play;Play Store;Microsoft Store;Software;Flatpak;Flathub;Apps;Installer
This ensures that the Cinnamon menu search can recognize and suggest the Software Manager when users search for these terms.
