We have been missing the vendored() call updates too many times that this should be beneficial. But at least I am not really motivated enough to put work on this, so it would be nice if some of our downstream distributors can work on this :p

The issue requests adding a check in `pip/ vendor/ init .py` to ensure that calls to `vendored()` are updated appropriately, as referenced in PR #8045 comment. The check should prevent missing updates in the future. Currently, there is no implementation, and the issue has been stale since 2020. A good starting point is to examine the existing vendored() function and write a test or assertion to validate consistency.
