説明

It's been recently adopted by the PyPA and provides validation capabilities that might be useful to us: https://github.com/pypa/pyproject-metadata. My understanding is that it's going to be a transitive dep regardless so we might as well make use of it too.

Investigate how pip tools currently handles pyproject.toml metadata, possibly in the `pip tools` module. Determine if integrating pyproject metadata would reduce duplicated code or improve validation. Look at existing discussions in the issue comments for more context.
