The example implementation of local_repository does not work with bazel 2.1.1 when "path" is specified as relative path to the calling workspace. Yielding error: "rule //external:<repository_name> must create a directory".
Manual inspection of the repository path found repository_ctx.attr.path being resolved as relative path to the repository directory instead of the workspace directory in repository_ctx.symlink.
Also, is there a way to manually resolve a path relative to workspace directory?
