I'm just adding this issue to track the following comment in the changelog:

Adding this component is currently required, but it will eventually be optional

Also, please consider renaming it from metainfo to meta-info (or similar), to be more spell-checker-friendly. (Metainfo -> MetaInfo).

Look for any existing discussions or comments about renaming to 'meta info'. The goal is to make the component optional, possibly by adding a configuration option or removing the requirement.
