Descrizione

Description

while deserialize Dictionary<string, int> with a custom StringJsonConverter which is used to convert null to empty string , it throws:

Unhandled exception. System.NotSupportedException: The type 'System.String' is not a supported dictionary key using converter of type 'StringJsonConverter'. Path: $.Pages['Chapter 1'] | LineNumber: 4 | BytePositionInLine: 20. ---> System.NotSupportedException: The type 'System.String' is not a supported dictionary key using converter of type 'StringJsonConverter'.

if i remove StringJsonConverter, it works fine.

the full code is here:

using System.Text.Json;
using System.Text.Json.Serialization;

var options = new JsonSerializerOptions() { TypeInfoResolver = MyJsonSerializerContext.Default };

// everything works fine if I remove the line below
options.Converters.Add(new StringJsonConverter());

var book = JsonSerializer.Deserialize<Book>(
    """
    {
        "Title": "Philosopher's Stone",
        "Author": "J.K.Rowling",
        "Pages": {
            "Chapter 1": 10,
            "Chapter 2": 20
        }
    }

Console.WriteLine(book!.Pages["Chapter 1"]);

public class Book
