Research direction

Start by locating the IntelliJ and Eclipse plugin entry points and checking how they handle Java compact source files. Compare their behavior with the jdtls LSP path mentioned in the issue. Done means the relevant IDE plugins support these files without the reported formatting popups, with coverage for the affected cases.

Description

IntelliJ

Hello: feel free to close or whatever if this isn't the place to ask.

I've been getting a bunch of popups about google java format not working in IntelliJ (most recent version) -- using a lot of compact source files in java these days.

Is there a blocker or a timeline as to when we could expect the intellij/eclipse/etc plugins might to get updated to support these types of files? I notice just running jdtls LSP in emacs does it -- and was surprised/curious why the IJ plugin doesn't do it yet

Thanks,
