Description

#465 shows that lots of dependencies are outdated. They should be kept fairly up-to-date with their latest versions as for libraries they often fix bugs and/or security issues.

Right now, the culprits are:

dependencies

Research direction
Review the list of outdated dependencies in the issue body. For each dependency, check its npm registry for the latest version and compatibility with the current project. Update the versions in package.json. Run the existing test suite (likely using mocha and grunt) to verify no regressions. Note that this repository is deprecated; consider contributing to the active fork at https://github.com/thelounge instead.
