please refer upper issue (Sorry written in Japanese) のissueを引き継いだ sphinx がわのissue です。
Other way will resolve. If you host on the internet, you can use search engine. Search engines will index your site. then you can search your site with custom search. It seems for me that this other way should add your choice.
もう、ひとつ解決方法があるとおもっていて、公開サーバーであれば、検索エンジンにindexingしてもらって、site限定で、検索範囲を絞るという選択肢もあってよいかと思います。
