It would be great if you could add some performance stats for boringtun. I would be also interested in comparison with the kernel-space implementation and wireguard-go.

Check if a benches directory exists in the repository. Look at the wireguard go repository for how they set up benchmarks. Set up Rust benchmarking using criterion or similar, focusing on throughput and latency. Review the existing issue comments for any additional requirements or suggestions.
