Description

Repology.org tracks package versions across a lot of package repositories.

It supports badges with number of repositories which package a given project (examples below for Firefox):

Number of packages for Firefox

And per-repository badges with version (of given project package in given repository):

Arch package version FreeBSD port version Ubuntu Zesty package version

Would be nice to support these on shields.io.

PS. It also supports a big badge with packaging summary in all known repos, but I guess that's not exactly sields.io format.

Research direction
This feature request asks for a new badge provider for Repology. To implement, study existing badge providers in the repository (e.g., in the 'services' directory) to understand the pattern. The Repology API documentation should be reviewed to construct the badge URLs. Note that the issue provides example badge URLs for different formats; these can be used to design the service endpoint.
