Feature request

Some plotting functionality is available only through hats.inspection.plot_*(lsdb_catalog.hc_structure). It would be nice to make this functionality accessible directly from LSDB. Relevant documentation page would be very helpful.

  • plot_density for unchanged catalog
  • plot_healpix_map for Catalog.skymap_histogram output

Read the LSDB contributor guide and explore the Catalog class structure. Examine hats.inspection.plot * functions to understand their inputs and outputs. Identify how LSDB catalog objects relate to the LSDB catalog structures used by hats.inspection, and note any existing patterns for adding methods to catalogs. Also review the documentation site structure to determine where to add a plot guide.
